- About Us | St Ferdinand Chicago
Welcome to St Ferdinand Church St. Ferdinand is made up of numerous ethnic groups, each with it's own unique culture and traditions. We believe diversity should be celebrated by highlighting each group and it's own special identity. About Us The Saint Ferdinand Catholic Community is dedicated to our patron Saint Ferdinand of Castile (c. 1199 -1252). A wise ruler and an excellent administrator. Saint Ferdinand became the king of Castile at the age of 18, and then, after the death of his father, assumed the kingship of Laon, where he governed for 35 years. He died on May 30 and was buried in the habit of a friar minor at the Cathedral of Seville. He was canonized in 1671. During his life, Saint Ferdinand lead and defended his people, built up the Church, and achieved peace among various factions. His life and work serves as a daily reminder to us to be united with one another in building up the Kingdom of God here on the northwest side of Chicago. Saint Ferdinand is the patron saint of soldiers. At the conclusion of our parish's 75th Anniversary, a statue of our patron was commissioned and dedicated. The Saint Ferdinand Statue and Garden are located on Mason Avenue at the northwest side of our parish property. St. Ferdinand is made up of numerous ethnic groups, each with its own unique culture and traditions. We believe diversity should be celebrated by highlighting each group and its own special identity. Over the years we have been able to provide a growing number of activities and programs to celebrate both the diversity of our parish families and the unity in our faith. Currently, we celebrate eight Masses each weekend in two languages - English and Polish. Our Priests Fr. Peter Gnoinski Pastor pgnoinski@saintferdinand.org Fr. Our drawings will take place at The Nest Pub and Eatery on Irving Park Rd., Purchase your ticket This Sunday after the 8:30 Mass or at that School Office for a chance to take home half the winnings! 3.. We would also like to inform everyone that starting next Sunday the first Sunday of Advent weekend Masses, November 26-27, our Archbishop Cardinal Blase Cupich has decided to rescind the general dispensation given during the Covid-19 pandemic to stay home and participate in Mass via television, live-stream, or radio. Beginning with the first Sunday of Advent, we will once again be obligated to physically attend and participate in Holy Mass in the church. One of the precepts of the Catholic Church is that Catholics are required to attend Mass on Sunday. That means it is a mortal sin to miss Mass on Sundays or holy days of obligation, unless there are extenuating circumstances like illness or caring for someone who is ill. God bless! 4. There will be only one Mass celebrated on Thanksgiving Day at 9:00 a.m. There on Thanksgiving Day that will benefit St. Vincent de Paul Society. Please be generous as you are able. The Parish Office will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Friday and Saturday. The Parish will reopen on Monday, November 28th at 8:30 AM. 5. Next Weekend NOVEMBER 26/27 BETHLEHEM ART will host representatives of the Catholic Christian Community from Jerusalem and Bethlehem in the Holy Land who will be displaying handcrafted olive wood religious figurines and articles. Due to the political conflict and covid19 results in the reduction of tourism, the Catholic Community has come to depend more on the sale of these articles abroad to survive and keep their Christian identity and presence there. The wood carvings are beautiful and reflect our faith and love for the Lord. Please consider purchasing a gift that will be remembered and cherished for yourself or someone dear to you. The handcrafted olive wood religious figurines and articles will be available for purchase after all the weekend Masses. Previous Next

Virtus for Employees and Volunteers Click here... RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM (R.E.P.) As we begin the New Year, we are invited to get closer to GOD, to deepen our Catholic faith, and to be real disciple of Jesus Christ. God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted and thus heirs of his blessed life.
